The thermal stability of quenched and partitioned steel microstructures

چکیده

The quenching and partitioning (Q&P) process is a heat treatment process, aiming at the creation of steel microstructures composed martensite retained austenite. Herein, thermal stability microstructure investigated upon reheating microstructures, created with different Q&P settings, in routes, using dilatometry thermomagnetometry to quantitatively monitor phase fractions. Analysis derivative curves thermomagnetic data reveals that austenite decomposes. decomposition occurs two stages when heating rate relatively low. completely transforms ferrite cementite 550 °C, followed by isothermal holding for 1800 s. Increasing time from 50 300 s 400 °C after 260 significantly increases In all conditions, both carbon-depleted (formed initial step) fresh final quenching) are found be partially tempered during experiments.

Enhanced Thermal Stability in Nanostructured Bainitic Steel

We report an attempt at increasing the thermal stability of nanocrystalline bainite to tempering heat-treatments, by enhancing the silicon concentration of the alloy. Validation experiments have been conducted using synchrotron X-radiation during tempering heat treatment. It is found that the change in alloying successfully stabilises the austenite at elevated temperatures by retarding cementit...

AN EVALUATION OF THERMAL STABILITY IN DISSIMILAR WELDS BETWEEN 310 STAINLESS STEEL AND ALLOY 657

Abstract: The investigation is carried out to characterize welding of AISI 310 austenitic stainless steel to Inconel 657 nickel-chromium superalloy. The welds were produced using four types of filler materials: the nickel-based corresponding to Inconel 82, Inconel A, Inconel 617 and austenitic stainless steel 310. This paper describes the effects of aging treatment on the joint. The compara...

The Stability and Thermal Performance of a Small Solar pond

A small salt gradient solar pond with an average surface area of 1.8 m2 and depth of 0.8m has been tested. The depths of storage, gradient and surface zones are 0.3, 0.27 and 0.07m, respectively. The temperature of the storage zone for the summer days reaches its maximum of 65˚ C after about 8 days. Daily variation of the storage zone temperature was about 8˚C which is due to small volume of th...
